I was chatting with a friend at church about the Christman season soon approaching (as a mom, yes, it's fast approaching haha) and she had mentioned we should start prepping now! At first, I took it more jokingly but then realized by the look on her face she was in fact serious and that actually it is a very good idea! If you think about it, that season always goes by so fast because it's usually jam packed with events, not to mention your to do list as long as Santa's.
So yes, I will start making a Christmas prep list sooner than later, but I liked the idea so much I wanted to do it for fall!
You could even do it for every season! I am hoping it will help make the most out of each one and to enjoy them more, instead of frantically trying to put everything together 2 weeks before it's over!
I think it can also help us to be more intentional in what we plan and prep for!
As the seasons change, I think one of the best ways to make the most out of them is changing out things in our home that use our 5 senses:
Smell, Taste, Hearing, Sight, and Touch. It doesn't have to be extravagant! but little touches here and there can make each season feel special in its own way. Like the way we can tell a new season is coming by the weather changing (well not here, anyway! haha) or the leaves changing colors, the flowers opening up, or the daylight getting shorter.
It can help us welcome each season and the different beauty it brings with it!
Here are some ideas to welcome fall into your home!
Smell-
Candles
This is my all-time favorite fall candle! My friend introduced me to it years ago and I've never found anything I like more! --- Leaves Candle
These should technically be in the "Sight" category cause the don't necessarily have a scent, but maybe there are taper candles that are scented somewhere! These are more of an all-round thing for me, but I did find some different colors I want to use specifically for Fall!
Taste-
Pumpkin spice and apple baked goods!
I love adding pumpkin pie spice, or even just cinnamon to regular recipes like pancakes, muffins and oatmeal! Can't forget about coffee too!
I don't know if this is the exact recipe I have used, but this pumpkin roll is so good! I have made it Dairy and gluten free too! So, I will try to get that recipe together-
but here is the website this photo is from---> Pumpkin Roll Recipe
Hearing
I don't have a specific soundtrack for Fall like I do Christmas, but I am starting to compile a list of songs that I have been loving and will put it together to share!
This song has been on repeat for me:
Sight & Touch
Sight and Touch go hand in hand because pillows and blankets double as both!
I like to bring more natural but moody colors in fall- much of my year-round decor already has dark colors, so I want to be more intentional about bringing in decor specific for Fall, like florals and garlands
I just watched this video, and I love what she has!!
here are some colors I am loving right now! And I will be on the lookout when shopping
loooove this pillow cover! They have a blanket as well, so amazing for fall or all year ;)
Love this quilt! Its from Etsy!
I think I neeeeed this throw? maybe? but seriously! ha!
This colors are *chefs kiss*
I love going to my local grocery store and picking up some mini pumpkins and even dried florals they have! I don't mind getting the real ones I can just toss at the end of the season, or at least until I start to decorate for Christmas! But I hope to find some faux ones that I love!
Garland is harder for me because I want my decor to feel natural and not manufactured, basically I want my house to look like nothing was made after the 1800's haha but let's be real, I still love me some Marshalls and HomeGoods! I have some seasonal mugs I bring out :)
So, friends, there are 2 weeks before Fall officially begins! The only thing I have done is buy 4 mini pumpkins but 3 of them were for friends visiting, oh and a pumpkin chai drink :) oh and OK, I did buy a pumpkin flavor syrup for coffee a few months ago at a local cafe... But besides that, I need to do a few more things to start prepping for fall, planning out activities and wish lists for the season and getting my decor set!
What are some of your favorite things about fall??
Happy Prepping!

H
